John Travolta can’t catch a break. Instead of trying to victimize him as a celebrity everyone wants a piece of, let’s call him what he is: a horny man with a closet full of gay skeletons. Instead of fessing up to his crazy sexual history, John is determined to silence everyone, probably because fame has inflated his ego so much that he considers himself god. Well, we have another ex-gay lover lawsuit to add to the pile: Doug Gotterba, who was Travolta’s pilot from 1981 to 1987, is fighting back after receiving a threatening letter from Travolta’s attorney Marty Singer.
Gotterba spoke to The National Enquirer in June about a steamy affair, which was confirmed by Travolta’s then secretary Joan Edwards. The story was also confirmed by Gotterba’s ex boyfriend Robert Britz, who told the Enquirer, “Dough told me at the beginning of our relationship that he’d ahd a homosexual relationship with John Tavolta in the1980s.” Whether or not you practice total disclosure in your relationships, we love the support Gotterba’s gotten.
Team Travolta is furious that Gotterba won’t back down from his story—because it’s all true! Instead of manning up and trying a dose of honesty (in this century, no one will judge Travolta for being gay, we just judge him for being an egomaniacal liar!), they’re threatening Gotterba with a lawsuit, claiming he’s violated a confidentiality agreement he signed. We love Gotterba for refusing to back down.
He is suing on the grounds that he is being held to a contract that doesn’t exist and that he should be able to speak without legal fear. Travolta’s relationship with Gotterba ended just before his marriage to Kelly Preston—but Gotterba claims that after the wedding Travolta confided, “Dough, I still prefer men!” What do you think of the latest chapter of the John Travolta gay scandal? Do you want him to just come out and live his life, or will he be a total dick no matter which team he bats for?
